The difference between 3U and 4U badminton rackets
The U in badminton rackets 3U and 4U represents the weight of the badminton racket. Tracing the development of badminton rackets, after the advent of carbon badminton rackets, after several young quantitative trends, badminton rackets finally exceeded the empty racket weight of 100 grams. To commemorate this historic progress, badminton racket manufacturers use 100 grams as a base and use a value that deviates by 100 grams to express the weight of carbon rackets. And this unit that deviates by more than 100 grams is U, and the U number refers to the weight of the badminton racket.
The weight of badminton rackets is diverse. Each racket is clearly marked with its weight, and the weight of the general badminton racket is divided into five levels: 1U\2U\3U\4U\5U. As with the size unit of the racket, different manufacturers have their own definition of weight unit, but the popular one is the U system used by YONEX. Weight range: 1U: 95-100g, 2U: 90-94g, 3U: 85-89g, 4U: 80-84g, 5U: 75-79g, so according to the U system standard, a 3U badminton racket is about 4g heavier than a 5U badminton racket.
The weight of aluminum frame badminton rackets is generally more than 1U (95-99 grams), and there are a few full-carbon badminton rackets with a weight as low as 80 grams called super light rackets, which are mainly designed for women, or golfers with special needs. More than 95 grams are generally metal rackets, mainly for people who play badminton as a fitness means and do not want to spend too much on equipment. The weight range of badminton rackets generally sold on the market is basically between 2U-4U.
